Welcome to the San Antonio Katrina Relief Blog
I spent most of the day figuring out how to deliver the donated items collected at The Cove last night. There is a bunch of conflicting information coming from several different sources including the news media, the Red Cross and even the 211 Help number out there. I figured it all out and got the goods delivered.
So... I will try to stay on top of your options in terms of how to help and I will keep you posted as things change on my new blog San Antonio Katrina Response at http://KatrinaSanAntonio.blogspot.com.
The Salvation Army facility at Kelly USA is impressive. Cars and truck are lined up to drop off. Volunteers swarm around to unload and deliver to the staging areas. From their items are sorted and sized and rebagged and put on pallets. They ar then shrink-wrapped and sent off to its destination. Chaos pours in the front door and order is shipped out the back. Neat!
As you collect stuff or you want to volunteer, please check back. I will keep you posted on your options for where you can take the goods. I will also post how to streamline your deliveries so the crews at the depots will be able to turn them around quicker.
If you learn anything new, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at joe@Joebarfield.com or call at 210-733-1928.
Fair enough?
Take care,

What a great service. I wonder if you would mind enabling an Atom feed so that interested folk can subscribe and pick up new items as they are posted.
